While most of us were too young to remember 1972, many changes for firefighters is starting. Republican President Nixon took an extraordinary step in the evolution of the fire service. He created a panel to examine issues related to fire department and find ways to correct these problems. This group consisted of people who were at the top of the fire service and had a drive to complete the task given to them. It seems simple enough, but unfortunately, sometimes it seems easier is the hardest thing that can never do. It was something that was very small.

This group or committee has met some of the issues that were controversial in nature. You really rocked the fire department. The questions were not only on the surface, but dive into the depth of the fire that some felt better left alone. When he began to question the death of citizens, fire prevention, to change things to provide more security to those fighting the fire, and face new types of high-rise buildings go up a few feathers wrinkle. His conclusion was made in a very rude and in your face problems with the fire department that day. Nothing has been left to the imagination in the report and appears not to be inferred in the mind because of the frankness of the report. It appears to the Commission that even if the U.S. was at its height in a country of technology and promotion was also the worst for the number of deaths caused by fire and loss of money due to these fires. It appears that because of the audacity of this committee, the fire department has become what it is today and that seems to be a good thing.

The future has not only made good changes, but the problems in the fire service still exist. America is facing what she did again when the Commission was formed. Is it the fault of firefighters and citizens, which is sworn to protect? It seems that the new report says that all new and advanced training available to the general public, many choose not to follow, and when a fire happens, it’s too late. The Americans are allowing their smoke detectors go without a battery change and tests on a regular basis. Take precautions with chemicals and electronic devices also leads to a higher rate of deaths due to fire-related situations. It is a sad reality that seems to be ignored.

Simple things can be taken to make changes in the next report. If we, as responsible citizens of this great United States will start to become interested and learn the basics of fire safety, death and destruction can begin to shrink. By taking the time to make sure you have a fire extinguisher where needed and learn to cope with everyday objects in our home, our family life could be saved. A few seconds is all it takes to push the button on your smoke detector to see if it still works. A second drawback could be years you have to enjoy your loved ones!
